The Swindler

By definition, the swindler is the one who screws you up while you're happy about it.

Unfortunately, that's part of my job, swindling people, my job, however, does not include the stealing part of a swindler's job.

Basically, what I do is try to keep everyone happy and convinced that they got away with what they wanted, when in fact, they got away with what I wanted them to get away with.

It doesn't really matter what they want, what really matters is does what they want fit within the whole context of what the business needs??

So, I convince them that they don't really need what they wanted, what they need is to fall within the overall context, someone's gotta lose at the end, it won't be me.

So, here I am, caught between 3 parties, with 3 different agendae:

A. Business Owner. (Max return on investment)
B. Top Management. (Play it Safe)
C. Individual Directors. (Smaller target with a higher Budget)

With poor little old me trying to please them all, no way, except, The Swindler.

Otherwise, they get someone else to do it for them and I'm on the streets.

Any0ne have anything to add??

Well my friend it is a shitty job but some body is got to do it as they say. sometimes your job is actually selling the idea not coming up with it and believe it or not people know it when they are getting screwed and know exactly who is screwing them. Even if you are the one standing there talking they know that you may walk the walk but the talk is not yours :) got me?

haha, it's worse for a salesman, especially with all the misconceptions in this society :)

at least you know numbers don't lie :) your job is to make others think those are the numbers they really want ;))

i would stink at your job, finance was never my thing.... i need more dreaming space than numbers would allow! u should see how i estimate numbers, i have a financial analyst friend who cracks up every time he makes me guesstimate numbers!

You've just made my day by adding extra words to my repertoire "guesstimate"

hahaha

well, u remind me of that friend of mine... but you're nicer to me! probably because u never had to ask me a numbers-related question and had to watch me look dreamingly at the stars and start counting my toes in my head!!!

anonymous blogging can be a blessing that way!

I know exactly what you mean, it's like when someone speaks to me of the technicality of poetry, I'd go "duh"
